The latest Mainstreet Research study of Canada shows a stable lead extending for Mark Carney and the Liberals (46%) over Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives (36%). The NDP continues to struggle as they reach the conclusion of their leadership race. Under interim leader Don Davies, they have recovered back to 7%. The Bloc Quebecois could lose seats with their current standing in Quebec, trailing the Liberals by more than 20 points (45.8% to 23.5%) in Quebec. This could point to an advantage for the Liberals in the ongoing by-election In Terrebonne.
“Mark Carney has a clear lane to his majority Government in the month ahead” said Quito Maggi, President & CEO of Mainstreet Research. “While we have seen unusual results in by-election due to local issues and different voter turnout dynamics, these numbers are promising for a clean sweep for the Liberals on April 13th he added. “The advantages enjoyed by the Liberals in Quebec, Ontario, Atlantic Canada have now been amplified by BC and most surprisingly, a close race in Alberta.” He continued. “It’s unclear if anything can change significantly enough to change the expected outcome, we shall see” he concluded.
